ExxonMobil is a consumer of energy as well as a leading producer, which provides a unique perspective on this topic of interest to all manufacturers. The company deals annually with a multibillion dollar energy bill in its operations involving production of crude oil and natural gas, conversion into hundreds of refined and chemical products and their distribution to consumers worldwide.

Dennis Stanley will explain how ExxonMobil’s Global Energy Management System is identifying new ways to reduce the company’s energy costs and relate examples. Since 2000, this disciplined approach has identified more than $1.5 billion of savings and helped reduce emissions at ExxonMobil operations worldwide.

Progress Energy, headquartered in Raleigh, North Carolina, is a Fortune 250 diversified energy company with more than 24,500 megawatts of generation capacity and $10 billion in annua lrevenues. The Company’s holdings include two electric utilities serving approximately 3 million
customers in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Florida. Progress Energy also has non-regulated operations including competitive generation, energy marketing, natural gas production and fuel extraction.

The Regulated Fuels Department is responsible for maintaining supply reliability for the Company’s generation plants, ensuring rate stability for the company’s customers in the Carolinas and Florida service territory, and ensuring environmental compliance. This presentation illustrates Progress Energy’s strategies (price hedging, fuel diversity, procurement/transportation options, etc.) for managing the rising costs of fuel procurement and transportation to its generation facilities.
