Educational, Research, and Facilities Statement:

The School of Engineering & Textiles at Philadelphia University offers undergraduate degrees in Industrial & Systems Engineering; Engineering, with a minor in Textile Engineering, Textile Technology, Textile Design, Fashion Design, and Fashion Industry Management. The School also offers MS degrees in Textile Engineering, Textile Design, and Fashion & Apparel Studies, as well as a Ph.D. in Textile Engineering. Continuing education courses in textiles are also offered, and courses can be tailored to suit the needs of clients, and can be taught at Philadelphia University or off campus. The nonwovens laboratory is set up in a modular fashion and contains carding, air laid, wet laid, thermal bonding, latex bonding, and needlepunching equipment. The Grundy Product Evaluation lab contains a full range of textile physical, mechanical, and chemical property evaluation equipment, as well as image analysis equipment. The School also has printing facilities, including several digital ink jet printers, weaving, knitting, composites, and apparel laboratories. The School is willing to work with industry on research and trial/small production runs. Philadelphia University is a member of the National Textile Center and contains the Laboratory for Engineered Human Protection, a research initiative centered on the development of more sophisticated and effective protective-garment systems.
