Fundamentals of Air Filtration & Testing

Filters are the key components in any system that provide clean air for applications ranging from Indoor Air Quality and Industrial Machinery to Cleanrooms. This tutorial is mainly aimed at the newcomer to the field or anyone who wishes for a refresher on basic filtration and filter design. This tutorial will address filter design and test practices as well as test standards in vogue that ensure filters meet design specifications. Since filter media are the key element in any filter, an overview of media and their properties, as well as common filter construction practices, will be addressed.

Fundamentals of Liquid Filtration & Testing

1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Instructors: Gerard “Jerry” Lynch and Christophe Peuchot, IFTS

This course will encompass some of the basic laws and theory associated with filter design. In addition, the presentation will cover both the fundamentals of filtration and the principles of filter testing. An overview of Liquid Filtration Tutorialthe various types of tests that can be done on a filter or filter media will be included. The presentation will also review the difference between filtration for solid removal and solid recovery. At the end of this presentation, attendees will have a greater knowledge of the abilities of filters, how the testing works, and the importance of thorough and independent testing of filters.

 

Media & Configuration for Air & Liquid

This tutorial will cover the fundamentals of fibrous filtration media, including wet laid cellulose, wet laid glass, dry laid (carded), melt blown, electrospun and bonding methods. It will also cover aspects of configuration such as element geometry, pleat geometry and more.
