After studying process technology started working for a filtration company active on the solid – liquid separation field later joining the automotive industry over a company that deals with vehicle interior topics (heating and climatization of seats). Since 2010 working for MANN+HUMMEL first as R&D engineer for Cabin Air Filters and since 2 years as Manager R&D Cabin Air Filters.
Based on the results of research in the last decades the direct link between impacts on health and ambient air pollution in terms of Particulate Matter (e.g. PM2.5) was established. More and more also the fraction of PM1 (< 1μm) as well as the ultrafine particles (UFP < 0,1 μm) and their effects on human health are getting in focus. Especially vehicle passengers can be exposed to high concentrations of these ultrafine particles if no suitable filtration systems are available. By adopting HEPA Filter Media Technology a superior Air Quality inside the vehicle can be established. In order to offer an optimum solution which reflects different requirements (e.g. differential pressure and life time) several aspects need to be considered that shall be addressed in this presentation by introducing results from lab as well from field test of HEPA Cabin Air Filter Systems.
