TAPPI Committees
Nonwovens Binders and Additives
This committee facilitates the exchange of useful information on the technology and use of products that relate to or are based on continuous webs made from cellulose, synthetic and inorganic fibers that have been formed or treated with binders and additives that impart specific properties.
Building and Industrial Mat
This committee facilitates the exchange of information concerning the manufacture and use of wet-laid nonwoven mat, using fiberglass and other synthetic fibers for industrial and building products applications.
Materials Characterization and Modeling
This committee facilitates the exchange of information on equipment, methods, procedures, literature, and software used in the structure, characterization, computer modeling and performance of nonwoven products.
Nonwovens Filtration Media
This committee facilitates the exchange of information on the technology and usage of nonwovens media in filtration and develops industry test methods in the area of nonwovens filtration materials. The committee also defines and disseminates terminology and tests with regard to nonwovens filtration and encourages and educates the industry in wider use of nonwovens materials in filtration applications.
Fibers and Process Technology
This committee promotes the understanding and knowledge of the fibers used in the roduction of nonwovens, as well as the materials and technologies used in making such fibers.
Nonwovens Insulation
The scope of the committee is to address any
issue in the area of insulation manufacture and
use. Insulation materials include materials used
in buildings (homes, offices, schools, medical
facilities, government buildings, and hospitality
buildings), vehicles (trains, planes including
space vehicles, and automobiles), machinery
(sound, vibration, and thermal insulation in
electronics and/or machining equipment),
packing materials, and other specialized enduses.
Materials of construction include Organic
Materials and Inorganic Materials which could
include but are not limited to wood products,
re-cycled wood products, plants, processed
plant materials, etc. as batts, fluff or boards,
fiber glass, macro and micro ceramics, bioregional
carbonaceous materials, etc. as batts,
fluff or boards.
