Education Is INDA’s Focus As Spring Arrives For Nonwovens The New Year is upon us and we see signs of spring around our Cary offices. The cherry trees are blossoming and the pear trees are budding. This sense of spring applies to our nonwovens industry, as well.

Standard test methods continue to be of major importance to the nonwovens industry. Many of our members are international companies and they have expressed a need to have nonwoven standards that are common anywhere they have facilities. We are moving in that direction in several areas.

To keep our association strong in the future, we must continue to grow our membership. This objective is outlined in INDA’s Strategic Plan with an aggressive goal of 400 members by 2009.

On INDA’s Government Affairs Agenda for 2005: As President George W. Bush’s second-term administration takes shape, this year’s agenda for INDA’s Government Affairs staff focuses on tying up several outstanding issues while simultaneously inaugurating some new efforts. Both goals are driven by the fact that the entire Administration knows there will be no third term, and senior governmental officials – especially the Presidential appointees – can be expected to push things aside until the next election. Unfortunately, this is just human nature which can be expected during any second-term Administration.
