AATCC Joins INDA, TAPPI and The Fiber Society to Publish the Journal of Engineered Fibers and Fabrics

Expanded technical journal partnership to further research into engineered fabrics and allied technologies

CARY, N.C. — September 21, 2006 — Three leading trade associations and a prestigious professional society have entered into a partnership to publish the Journal of Engineered Fibers and Fabrics (JEFF), an electronic publication of original research and advances in fibers, fibrous materials and their components.

The American Association of Textile Chemists & Colorists (AATCC) this month joined founding partners INDA, Association of the Nonwoven Fabrics Industry; TAPPI, Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry; and The Fiber Society as a sponsor of the Journal of Engineered Fibers and Fabrics.

An international, peer-reviewed E-journal that publishes original research on all aspects of fabric technologies and their value chain from raw materials to end use products, JEFF earlier this year replaced the International Nonwovens Journal, the long-time technical publication sponsored by INDA and TAPPI.

The mission of JEFF is to publish a highly recognized and peer-reviewed research journal that fosters scientific efforts, across many disciplines, to enhance the performance of fibers, their converted forms and applications.  JEFF is pleased and honored to have distinguished scientists from North America, Europe and Asia serving as co-editors and area editors.  Reviewed and approved papers are beginning to be posted electronically at http://www.jeffjournal.org and more will be added soon.  Two Journal issues are on tap for the later part of 2006, with four planned for 2007.

“Because of the close relationships of many of our technologies and processes, it made perfect sense from a technical and publishing perspective to team with our three partners in publishing JEFF,” said Jack Daniels, executive vice president at AATCC. “Our members will benefit from this joint effort to recognize and publish cutting-edge research in the field of engineered fibers and fabrics. AATCC launched the materials interest group, which is chaired by Fred L. Cook of the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2005. JEFF will enhance the current education, publications, and program activities for our members and student members in the high-tech materials science arena.  Separately, AATCC will continue to publish its award-winning AATCC Review magazine for all of its members and subscribers.”

“The goal of JEFF is to offer the most comprehensive R&D journal in the field of engineered fibers and fabrics and to publish a refereed journal that will be highly cited by researchers,” adds INDA Technical Director Cos Camelio. “Having AATCC as a partner with INDA, TAPPI and The Fiber Society takes us a step further in that direction. This is an important partnership for all four organizations and a significant benefit for their members.”

The new journal utilizes publishing software that makes it easy for authors all over the world to submit a paper electronically and for the editors and peer reviewers to provide electronic feedback.  To review the manuscript requirements and to submit a paper, please go to http://jeff.edmgr.com.  There are no page charges and reviewed papers are posted on the Journal website as soon as they are approved.

The managing editor of JEFF is Bill Haile, who is well known in the polymers, fibers and engineered fabrics community.  He can be reached via email at jeffjournal@charter.net.
