Two Nonwovens Industry Professionals Honored with INDA Lifetime Achievement Awards
Stephen Quinn and Behnam Pourdeyhimi recognized with INDA’s highest awards during recent International Nonwovens Technical Conference in Denver
CARY, NC — October 8, 2009 — The ninth annual INDA Award for Lifetime Technical Achievement was recently presented to long-time industry leader, Behnam Pourdeyhimi, The Nonwovens Institute and Nonwovens Cooperative Research Center, who has had an impressive technical career in nonwovens. The third annual INDA Service Award was presented to Stephen P. Quinn, R.P. Fedder Corporation. Dr. Pourdeyhimi and Mr. Quinn received their respective awards during a special ceremony at the 2009 International Nonwovens Technical Conference (INTC) last month in Denver, Colorado.
“Stephen Quinn and Behnam Pourdeyhimi have played important roles in the technical development of the nonwovens industry throughout their impressive careers and they richly deserve this recognition from their peers in the nonwovens technical community,” says Rory Holmes, President of INDA, Association of the Nonwoven Fabrics Industry, which co-sponsors the INTC along with Nonwovens Engineers and Technologists Division (formerly the Nonwovens Division) of TAPPI, the Technical Association of the Pulp, Paper, Packaging, and Converting Industries.
Behnam Pourdeyhimi is currently the William A. Klopman Distinguished Endowed Professor and Associate Dean for Industry Research and Extension and Executive Director of the Nonwovens Institute and the Nonwovens Cooperative Research Center at North Carolina State University. He is a frequently published author in nonwovens and textile industry publications. He is a regular presenter at INDA events as well as his participation with the Fiber Society and our Journal of Engineered Fibers and Fabrics (JEFF). He holds a doctoral degree in Textiles, from University of Leeds, United Kingdom.
Steve Quinn is a well-known professional in the global filtration industry with more than 25 of years’ experience. Steve Quinn is a partner at R.P. Fedder Corporation, a filtration design, manufacturing and distribution company celebrating 50 years in business in 2009. Quinn currently holds the position of Vice President/General Manager. Quinn served as Chairman of INDA’s Filtration Committee from 2001–2005 and served as Chairman of INDA’s IDEA 2004 Committee from 2002–2004. He holds an MBA from Rochester Institute of Technology and a BS in Education from Elmira College.
