WHEN A BUTTERFLY FLAPS ITS WINGS, THE LINKAGES BETWEEN OIL, POLYPROPYLENE, POLYESTER, AND COTTON

KEYNOTE: INTC 2005
SEPTEMBER 19 - 22, 2005, MILLENNIUM HOTEL, ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI

Cary, NC – Ian Julian, Chemical Market Associates, Inc. (CMAI), will be delivering this year’s keynote address for INTC 2005. The Nonwovens Industry is in a price squeeze dilemma. Because raw material costs are so important to the industry, Ian Julian will highlight the issue in his presentation entitled, “When a Butterfly Flaps Its Wings, the Linkages between Oil, Polypropylene, Polyester and Cotton.” He will focus on managing raw material costs for nonwovens, fibers and the composite industries. Also on deck for discussion will be the general energy and economic picture facing the nonwovens industry. Polyester, polypropylene and cotton; resin feedstock drivers and the critical underlying dynamics/tradeoffs will be examined. Most importantly, Mr. Julian will highlight future trends and management strategies. INDA and TAPPI are jointly organizing INTC, (International Nonwovens Technical Conference) 2005, Millenium Hotel, St. Louis, Missouri, September 19 – 22, 2005.

Cos Camelio, Technical Director, INDA, remarked, “The industry is facing tremendous cost pressures due to escalating raw material prices. There is concern across the board. Mr. Julian’s presentation couldn’t come at a better time and could help generate new ideas and innovation for nonwovens.”

Mr. Julian worked with Monsanto Chemical Company where he was instrumental in project engineering, managing capital projects, providing maintenance support, sales, leading commercial efforts, cost reduction enterprises, and company divestments. Mr. Julian joined Chemical Market Associates, Inc. (CMAI) in 2001 as the Director of Synthetic Fibers. He currently focuses on providing multi-client nylon and polyester fiber services. Mr. Julian is a graduate of Texas A&M University where he received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. He furthered his knowledge of business through the Executive Program at Washington University.
