Job Summary:

Support the company’s growth plans by developing key knowledge about targeted markets and applications, assisting in the upfront work to accelerate the development and acceptance of new products.

Application and Market Knowledge:  Develop and document key competitors, key products, key test methods, key committees, technical product assessment, and assist in development of test methods.

New Product Development Assistance:  Help develop technology and product roadmap requirements, product launch tracking, customer acceptance tracking, applications assistance and R&D assistance as necessary.

This person will also act as technical liaison between Customers, Sales, Product Management, R&D, Applications and Operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review customer product plans and make recommendations for material selection based on design objectives, such as strength, basis weight, heat resistance, and cost; establish fitness-for-use criteria.
  • Advise customers on material performance, solutions and material compatibility for the end-use. 
  • As required, work directly with customers to solve technical issues and communicate back to the PM sites. 
  • Provide design inputs to Lydall R & D to meet customer requirements and customer trials.
  • Assist in assessing and resolving Quality complaints as necessary
  • Support root cause analysis both internally and externally
  • Participate on C/I activities & Kaizen events
  • Represent Lydall interest at relevant trade shows and within relevant technical trade organizations. Participate in relevant International Standards committee meetings
  • Communicate possible regulatory changes to the organization
  • Drive our growth in the fluid power market segment
  • Provide training on products, applications and technologies to Lydall personnel.
  • Travel globally with Sales and Marketing personnel to support new and ongoing customer focused business opportunities. 


  • Must adhere to all company and location policies and safety rules

  • Must be able to work extended hours when required

Education, Experience, Skills and Abilities Required for Consideration as a Candidate:

(If a degree is required it must be from an accredited institution) 

  • BS Degree in Engineering or related field

  • Minimum of seven years’ experience in fluid power

  • Experience in Lean Six Sigma

  • Proven success in filter/media/element development

  • Successful problem solving

  • Innovative thinking and collaborative nature

  • Strong presentation skills

  • Effective communicator with all levels of an organization including senior management at customers and suppliers

  • Financial acumen: creating and working within budgets, understanding basic business financials

  • Extensive experience with Microsoft Office software, such as Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Additional Education, Experience, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

(If a degree is required it must be from an accredited institution) 

  • Masters in Engineering or Business

  • Ten plus year's experience in fluid power

  • Association with technical committees such as NFPA, ISO, INDA , AFS
