Jessica Franken, INDA’s Director of Government Affairs, has more than a decade of professional government relations/public policy experience. It includes several positions on Capitol Hill and many years of work with industry association clients including INDA, Association of the Nonwoven Fabrics Industry, as well as groups representing recycled textiles, pharmaceutical printing and healthcare packaging industries.

Franken has acted as a primary policy liaison/advocate between clients and state, federal and international officials on a diverse array of issues. They include the environment, consumer product safety, international trade, tax, healthcare, homeland security, chemicals, manufacturing, and labor/workplace policy.

She currently represents INDA as an appointed advisor to the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Industry Trade Advisory Committee for Textiles and Apparel (ITAC-11), is an active member in a number of textile industry and general business coalitions and is a frequent speaker on governmental issues of interest to her clients.

Franken has provided detailed information on government affairs called “INDA on the Issues”. This section of the INDA website is a members’ only benefit that focuses on the critical legislation and regulations impacting the domestic and global operations of INDA member companies. With regular updates and expert analysis provided by the INDA staff and the association’s Washington, D.C. offices.

In addition to providing news and updates on policies vital to INDA members, the “INDA on the Issues” section provides valuable links to legislative and regulatory resources as well. It also details INDA’s positions on current affairs and the association’s actions to date on these issues.

Currently on the site are reviews and explanations on Environmental, Human Resources, Taxes, International Trade, Health Care/Medical and Product Safety Policies. These policies and their impact are constantly updated by the INDA Washington, D.C. office.

Franken also authors the “INDA Washington Alert” newsletter to keep its members around the world informed on legislative and government activities that impact their businesses. This newsletter is released monthly and is available in the Members’ Only section of the INDA website.

The goal of the Washington Alert is to continually update INDA members of important regulatory and legislative developments that specifically impact their businesses. Topics range from recent and proposed legislation to review and analysis of the ongoing budget process and other economic issues in the Nation’s Capital.
