Chief Executive Officer, Tethis

Scott Bolin (Co-founder and CEO) Scott co-founded Tethis, a startup focused on bio-renewable polymers, in 2012 as a spin-out of NC State University. As Co-founder and CEO, Scott has been a part of Tethis’ formation and financing, raising nearly $5m to date in investment capital as Tethis has transitioned its technology from the lab to the marketplace.

Prior to co-founding Tethis, Scott was a found Fellow with the Blackstone Entrepreneur Network and an educator. He completed his undergraduate work in English at the College of William and Mary and MBA at NCSU. Scott has been an invited speaker/guest lecturer on topics related to Entrepreneurship and cleantech at the Kenan-Flagler School of Business at UNC, Duke Law School, Duke Fuqua School of Business, The NC Sustainability Association, and the Fulbright Scholars amongst others. Most recently Scott represented Tethis on Capitol Hill to members of Congress and industry as part of the NCET2’s Top University Startups 2016 award.

Biobased SAP for Disposable Hygiene Applications

Tethis is launching commercial production of Tethex, a starch-based superabsorbent material with price, manufacturing, performance, and ecological advantages over traditional synthetics. Either as a replacement for or blended with synthetics, Tethex will transform the sustainability of baby diapers, adult incontinence garments, and feminine hygiene products.
