Fluffless Diapers - Will the World Follow China's Lead?
As discussed at HYGIENIX 2017, Chinese consumers want softer, drier and thinner baby diapers. This is driving a significant percentage (>50%) of SAP innovation. As the fluffless design trend begins to manifest itself in other Asian markets and into Europe, it is not unreasonable to believe that new fluffless products may soon make their way onto American baby bottoms. This presentation will discuss the advantages and challenges of fluffless baby diaper design and provide a comparative look at China's fluffless products and traditionally design diapers found around the globe. We'll discuss how fluffless diaper designs contain two or more different SAP types and are driving changes in SAP properties while impacting the other raw materials used in baby diapers. The presentation will conclude with a review of the possible impact of "core on roll" on US diaper manufacturers & ideas of what else to watch out for as the trend towards fluffless design gathers momentum.
