Absorbent products are a first-line defense and daily management option for those experiencing urine leakage. These products include a variety of designs, absorbency levels and options for use, and are utilized across the continuum of care, from the active and independent consumer at home, to the mostly immobile or bed-bound dependent patient in a clinical care setting. Over the past decade, there has been rising demand for more options in this product category. This lecture will provide a comprehensive review of current products used to manage urinary incontinence with emphasis on understanding the needs and wants of those choosing these products.

BIOGRAPHY
Diane K. Newman, DNP, FAUNA, FAAN is Adjunct Professor of Surgery at the Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. She is also the Medical Director of Digital Science Press. For over 35 years, she has practiced as a nurse practitioner in urology, specializing in the evaluation, treatment, and conservative management of urinary incontinence and related pelvic disorders including the use catheters, products and other devices in the management of bladder dysfunction. She has conducted research on urinary incontinence, overactive bladder, catheters, and other devices in the management of bladder dysfunction. She is an internationally known speaker and has educated nurses and other health care professionals on conservative treatments for lower urinary tract dysfunction. She is the author of more than 100 publications in peer reviewed medical and nursing journals and has authored dozens of book chapters and seventeen books on urinary incontinence including textbooks for students, guides for clinicians, and resource books for patients and caregivers.
