Soft Nonwoven Innovation-- a Holistic View from Consumer Sensory to Finish Product
Softness has been a key delighter to hygiene consumers around the world. As definition of softness has been vague and enabling technology can be costly, it is imperative to make proper choices based on true consumer need. An up-to-date and systematic overview will be shared on how to build a successful soft diaper product based on sensory attributes, physical measurements and material technology selection to maximize consumer noticeable benefit. Areas of watch-out and solutions will also be discussed.

BIOGRAPHY
Han received his Ph.D. in 2003 from Polymer Science at University of Akron and immediately joined Procter & Gamble R&D. From 2007 to 2010, Han was responsible for development and managing global nonwoven qualification and cost saving across 4 diaper materials categories for P&G Baby Care. In his 15-year career with P&G, Han developed and scaled up multiple technologies from idea to pilot to commercial.Han has 28 patent applications, in which over 20 are commercialized and currently in market. Han also authored 2 book chapters in fiber spinning and characterization with Elsevier and Oxford University Press. Han was the recipient of CEO award in 2010, 2013 and President Choice Award on Innovation in 2013. His research work was displayed during Extreme Textile Exhibition in Smithsonian Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum in New York City.
Han is currently based in Cincinnati, Ohio serving as Principle Scientist in nonwoven development and commercialization after completing international assignment in Beijing China.
