John Bradshaw

Director Of Materials Recovery, Shaw Industries

John Bradshaw is the Director of Materials Recovery for Shaw Industries. He leads the internal waste and recycling sales and operations while working to develop processes and end use applications for Post Consumer Carpet. Prior to this, John managed the residential environmental affairs for two years and spent 15 years in various Sales and Marketing positions for Shaw. He has worked with Shaw since 1988.

John holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from Georgia State University. He feels fortunate to hold a position that betters the life of his family and community. John is married with three children and 1 grandchild.

Crowdsolving Challenge: Finding Applications for PET from Post-Consumer Carpet

This offering is a sharp contrast to the standard technical presentation heard at many technical conferences. I intend to challenge the highly intelligent RISE attendees to contribute to finding a solution to an ever growing issue creating new products at the end of an old product's life. Within the presentation, I will discuss the history of carpet recycling, the key economic drivers, current process issues and a data sheet for the product. This will provide sufficient background to begin the thought process necessary to solve this problem. We will set up an easy way to submit texts of the audience's thoughts and ideas. Audience ideas will be presented real time to foster brainstorming and to reinforce the crowd effect. Results will be shared later in the conference to connect the effort.
