Chief Commercial Officer, Teknoweb Converting
Guido Conio is currently responsible for sales of manufacturing solutions for the wet wipe industry in Teknoweb Converting (a company of IMA group, a leader in machinery for packaging listed in Italian Stock Exchange with a turnover of about 1.1 B Euro). He started his career in manufacturing in P&G Italy and moved quite soon to commercial roles in GDM and Rockwell Automation. He has a round background understanding converter operation needs and requirements, machinery manufacturing and automation capability, particularly plant wide. Relying on this so synergic background he will give us some hints and tools to choose the right wet wipes converting solution for each specific need.
When deciding to manufacture wet wipes or expand wipes production capacity, a few questions arise: How many machines do I need? Which speed? Better to have one high speed machine or multiple medium speed converting lines? A higher speed production line reduces per product cost by dividing personnel cost (that in some geographies is everything but negligible) by a higher number of products produced. But lower speed equipment allows more flexibility and reduced capital expenditure. This choice is not easy and, to this point, there hasn't been a simple and clearly correct answer. This paper compares the two types of solutions - high or medium speed equipment - and makes the decision-making process both clear and easy.
