VP General Manager, Sani Professional

Matt Schiering is currently Vice President and General Manager of Sani Professional, the Away-From-Home Division of PDII.  He has held this role since late 2009, but his work within the nonwovens industry goes back almost two decades.  He began his post-military professional career with Johnson and Johnson's Personal Products Division where he worked primarily across their women's health brands including Stayfree and Serenity.  His nonwovens experience also includes roles with SCA Personal Care and Irving Tissue before arriving at PDII in 2007.  A 1990 graduate of the Cornell University School of Hotel Administration, he is excited to be working closely on product innovations developed to serve the foodservice industry around which his education was centered.

The Challenges of Product Claims

"Fact or Frictionless:" What's On Your Table & Digital Devices?

This presentation addresses the explosion in use of digital devices, often referred to as "frictionless service," across the foodservice industry. Customer-facing digital devices represent a significant cross-contamination-driven foodborne illness risk to employees and guests alike. This presentation examines different types of digital devices in use, how they are being used and who is using them. Anchored by quantitatively robust, ATP-device-collected data, we explore the extent and types of bacteria found on a wide range of devices across the retail landscape. We conclude with data-backed recommendations for single-use, wipe based cleaning and sanitizing protocols for these ubiquitous devices.
