Ahlstrom introduces Ahlstrom Flow2Save™ filtration media for improved indoor air quality

Ahlstrom, a global high performance fiber-based materials company, has launched Ahlstrom Flow2Save™, the new media for high efficiency air (HEA) filtration applications at the Filtech exhibition in Germany during October 22 – 24, 2013. The innovative, patent-pending filtration media is based on an engineered gradient structure combining multiple advanced technologies.

Ahlstrom Flow2Save™ provides high filtration efficiency to improve Indoor Air Quality (IAQ), which is especially important in public buildings such as hospitals and schools, and crucial to protect people and help alleviate Sick Building Syndrome (SBS).

The key value-add is how easily air can flow through the media.

Ahlstrom Flow2Save™ has significantly better pressure drop characteristics than other commercial HEA filtration media, meaning it is much easier for the ventilation system to push air through the filter. This allows significant energy savings throughout the life time of the filter, which in turn allows significantly improved sustainability and cost savings of the entire system.

Ahlstrom Flow2Save™ provides mechanical filtration at efficiency levels from F7 upwards, per test standard EN779-2012, and for HEPA levels per EN1822. The use of Ahlstrom’s Flow2Save™media enables filter manufacturers to positively impact customers’ life quality, by supporting a basic need –providing clean indoor air.

Ahlstrom Flow2Save™ makes it easier for the ventilation system to push air through the filter while keeping filtration efficiency at the same high level. Following the Eurovent 4/11 guidelines it is demonstrated that Ahlstrom’s Flow2Save™ creates energy savings of more than 30% compared to a standard commercial Microglass media at the same efficiency level. This relates to monetary savings of several hundred Euros over the lifetime of the filter thanks to lower energy consumption. It also opens doors towards higher indoor air quality for a broader range of buildings, for example to better protect children from pollutants in school classrooms. The sustainability credentials of Ahlstrom Flow2Save™ are compelling; it allows for a healthier environment with cleaner indoor air quality, a 30% lower energy consumption compared to Microglass media and significant cost savings throughout the life cycle, to help us Stay ahead together.
