Championing the Issues That Matter to Our Industry

INDA is deeply committed to advocacy efforts that support the nonwoven and engineered fabrics industry. Our work focuses on several key policy areas, including:

  • Flushability – Ensuring product standards are science-based and reflect real-world conditions.
  • PFAS Regulation – Addressing the impact of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances on manufacturing and product safety.
  • Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) – Promoting fair and effective policies around product lifecycle and waste management.
  • Sustainability and Plastics Legislation – Supporting environmentally responsible innovation and regulation.
  • Tariffs and Trade – Advocating for equitable trade policies and tariff structures that protect domestic manufacturing, reduce supply chain disruptions, and promote global competitiveness. INDA engages with federal agencies and trade advisory committees to influence trade agreements, customs regulations, and import/export policies that affect the flow of nonwoven goods and raw materials.

Government Affairs Leadership

Elevating the Industry’s Voice at Federal and State Levels

Wes Fisher, Director of Government Affairs, leads these efforts by cultivating relationships with agencies such as the CDC, USDA, and FDA. Wes brings a strong background in legislative strategy, having served as Senior Director of Government Affairs at the Pet Advocacy Network and held roles at the American Legislative Exchange Council and the National Automatic Merchandising Association. He also represents INDA on the Industry Trade Advisory Committee for Textiles and Apparel (ITAC 12) and prepares formal submissions articulating industry positions.

Joining Wes is Kevin Conroy, Senior Manager of Government and Regulatory Affairs. Kevin brings extensive experience in public policy and intergovernmental affairs. He previously served in senior roles under former Maryland Governor Larry Hogan, including Director, Chief of Staff, and Assistant Secretary of Agriculture. His earlier career includes work on Capitol Hill for Congressman Chris Shays, Congressman David Dreier, and the U.S. House Rules Committee, as well as managing numerous political campaigns at both state and federal levels.

Kevin’s expertise spans issues critical to INDA members, including PFAS regulation, EPR, and sustainability policy. His background strengthens INDA’s engagement on EPA rulemaking, chemical regulations, and plastics legislation.
