Martin Bide is a retired professor of Textiles, Fashion Merchandising and Design who taught at the University of Rhode Island. Bide is a textile scientist who studied fibers, dyeing, printing, and the environmental impact of making textiles. His research required a unique blending of organic chemistry of dyes and color when applied to fibers and allowed him to work across many disciplines, exploring pollution prevention in the textile industry, infection-resistant finishes for biomedical textiles, dye analysis, and sustainability in the textile and apparel supply chain. His new book on color for the textile supply chain has received many kudos on its clarity and readability for the non-scientist. |
